General Recovery Solution Questions
The choice of Recovery Solution depends on the location of the injury, the nature of the pet and its size.
- Cones provide full body coverage and are recommended for dogs that are more energetic and liable to try and reach wounds on legs, tail, and body.
- Cones come in both hard and soft formats, choose what best suits your pet.
- Inflatable Collars and Vests provide body only coverage and provide good all-round visibility for your pet.

In general, if you follow the manufacturers sizing guide the collar should fit comfortably. We generally recommend being able to comfortably slide 2-3 fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck.

Typically, Recovery Solutions are worn for the duration of the healing process for the pet. However, it is recommended with any collar, cone or vest that it be removed for short periods when your pet can be monitored to allow the fur and skin to breath and air out preventing any moisture build up under the collar, cone or vest.
Some collars feature feeding features that allow the pet to feed while still wearing the cone, the Calm Paws Caring Collar is one of them. A Recovery Vest does not inhibit feeding either.
Calm Paws Calming E-Collars
The Calm Paws Calming E-Collar uses a translucent blue color since blue has been shown to help calm pets and has been used in veterinary surgeries to help keep pets calmer.
The Calm Paws E-Collar provides full body coverage and all-round visibility for pets even preventing pets from getting to injuries on their tail, legs, and ears.
Plastic Calming E-Collars are recommended for more aggressive dogs as strongest material to survive being bashed around.
E-Collars are worn around the pet’s neck and secured using snaps that lock the cone in its shape, further securing your cone to your dogs regular collar using some ribbon or string that can be threaded through slots in the e collar will add additional security.
Calm Paws Protective Inflatable Collars
Our Protective Inflatable Collars have a no-leak air valve, so you need to pinch the valve while you’re blowing it up.
Calm Paws Calming Disks are included to release a calming scent that helps the pet stay more relaxed through the duration of use of the collar.
The Calm Paws Protective Inflatable Collar provides body only coverage preventing pets from reaching wounds and surgeries on the body. It does not prevent a pet from reaching its legs, head, or tail.
Calm Paws Protective Inflatable Collars use a no leak air valve that requires you to pinch the valve while you blow into it to allow the air to pass into the air bladder.

The Calm Paws soft Caring Collar is recommended for more passive dogs as flexible material can be bent by more aggressive dogs.
Calm Paws Earth Collars
The Calm Paws Earth Collar provides full body coverage and all-round visibility for pets even preventing pets from getting to injuries on their tail, legs, and ears.
The Calm Paws biodegradable hard Earth Collars are recommended for more energetic but not overly aggressive dogs as the strong flexible material can survive being bashed around some.

Calm Paws Earth Collars are fully recyclable and compostable and make use of plant-based materials in their construction. They help reduce the build up of single use plastics that traditional plastic e collars contribute to.
Calm Paws Recovery Vests
The Calm Paws Recovery Vest provide coverage for surgeries on the lower body and side of the pet.
Calm Paws Calming Disks are included to release a calming scent that helps the pet stay more relaxed through the duration of use of the vest. There is a secure calming pocket on the side of the vest to put the calming disk in.
The Calm Paws Recovery Vest can be rolled forward to allow the pet to relieve itself. Simply release the snaps on the hind legs and roll the vest forward tucking any loose fabric into the stretch band located on the underside of the vets. After the pet has relieved itself return the vest to its secure position.
Calm Paws Recovery Vests have three security bands that allow for adjustments based on the girth of the pet. When choosing a vest choose the length of vest that best fits the length of your pet from chest to the base of the tail.

Our Calming Disks & collars are effective for 21 days of continuous use.
Calm Paws Calming Disks use lavender and valerian in the dog disks and a type of cat mint in the cat calming disks.
Calm Paws Calming Disks last for up to 3 weeks of continuous use.
